It may be defined as a stone that is set with its lengthy dimension perpendicular to the face of a wall and whose length is uniform to the thickness of the wall. It is also known as perpend stone, bond stone, or tie stone.

Usually, stone walls are constructed with two coats of stone that is of inner and an outer coat, with the gap between them a few times filled with rubble.

Use: It is used during the construction of the stone walls with or without mortar.
