The weight of rectangular hollow section steel tubing (RHS) is calculated by the steel weight formula which is the multiplication of the unit weight of steel and its volume and also steel weight is calculated with the help of various RHS weight calculators/ steel weight calculators.

We know that rectangular tubing steel is a type of MS bar and its density is 7850 kg/m3. Here we need two measuring quantities first is the unit weight of steel and another one is the volume of steel.

Rectangular hollow section steel and square hollow section steel is similar and does not vary greatly, flat steel plate is heated and molded to customize the shape and edge of refined and Readied for welding.

High tensile strength hollow section of steel which is utilized majorly in different industries for automotive, machinery, furniture, and construction which section comes in different shapes and sizes, and finishes most common among them include a rectangular hollow section (RHS) and square hollow section (SHS).

  1. Size of Rectangular Hollow Section (RHS)

The size of rectangular hollow sections is available in a wide range their minimum lateral dimension is about 26 mm × 13 mm and their maximum lateral dimension is about 400 mm × 200 mm.

Their thickness also contains a wide range that is minimum thickness is about 0.8 mm and maximum thickness is about 12 mm and the length of the rectangular hollow section also contains a wide range available in a minimum of 4 meters and a maximum of 12 meters.

  2. Size of Square Hollow Section (SHS)

The size of a square hollow section (SHS) available in a broad range their minimum lateral dimension is about 12 mm × 12 mm and its maximum lateral dimension is about 300 mm × 300 mm.

Their thickness also contains a broad range that is minimum thickness is about 0.8 mm and the maximum thickness is about 12 mm the length of the square hollow section also contains a wide range comes in a minimum of 4 meters and a maximum of 12 meters.

  3. Uses of Rectangular Hollow Section

The rectangular hollow section of Steel is widely utilized in construction machinery preparation, steel construction project, building, shipbuilding, steel structure, electrical engineering, power plant, agriculture, chemical machinery, glass curtain, car chassis, airport, etc.

  4. Weight of Rectangular Hollow Section Steel (RHS)

We have,

Steel weight formula = Unit Weight of Steel × Volume of Steel

The density of steel bar=7850 kg/m3

Side length of surface A = 100mm = 0.1m,

side length of surface B = 50mm = 0.05m,

Thickness t = 10mm = 0.01m,

Length of rectangular tube Steel bar such as L= 1m.

  5. How To Calculate Steel Weight?

To determine the weight of a rectangular hollow section we use the RHS weight calculator, as we know that the weight of the Steel bar = Volume of Steel × Density of steel.

Weight = Volume × density

Vt = total volume of Steel

Va = volume of surface A

Vb = volume of surface B

Now,

Vt = Va + Vb

Vt = 2(Area of A×L) + 2(Area of B×L)

Vt = 2(0.1×0.01×1) m3 +2{(0.05-0.01-0.01)0.01×1} m3

Note:- both surfaces of volume are multiplied by 2

Vt = 0.002 m3 +(0.03×0.02) m3

Vt= 0.002 m3 + 0.0006 m3

Vt = 0.0026 m3

Now,

Weight = Volume × Density

Weight = 0.0026 m3 × 7850 kg/m3

Hence,

the weight of rectangular hollow section steel = 20.41 kg
