The material utilized to make a canopy can either be wood or metal. A wooden structure surrounded with traditional roof tiles or a metal canopy design wrapped employing glass or metal or any other conventional cover materials are standard types of canopies.
Canopies are generally made using fabric coverings as they have to meet various design needs.
The modern fabrics employed are strong, flame-retardant, highly durable, and can be easily cleaned. The material that can be used is vinyl, acrylic, canvas, polyester, or acrylic.
When employing roof tiles to conceal canopies, certain carefulness should be provided while developing the support structure to maintain the dead loads of tiles.
b. Construction Method for Canopies
Canopies can be either constructed via gable construction or flat roof construction; gable construction concerns making a self-supporting structure.
In flat roof construction, the canopy is formed flat where single metal plates or glass plates are employed as a canopy.
c. Attachments for Canopy Construction
Canopies can be made on a framed structure or connected to building walls. The former employs a frame made of wood or metal. Relying on the weight of the canopy, outriggers can be employed for additional support.
When the wall mounting technique is utilized, individual glass plates or metal plates are connected to the building walls employing metal structures or wires. For small structures, the support structure is straight anchored in the masonry.
