Sacrificial anode

A sacrificial anode is a type of metal that erodes more efficiently than the metal it protects. It is generally used in construction to defend steel constructions against corrosion.

It is joined to the steel frame by an electrical conductor. When an electrical current flows between the anode and the method, the anode corrodes instead of the way.
